the journey is far from over

Dec 9, 2018

The journey is far from over, but I am so glad that I took the first step.

I’m sure like many of you, before coming to Zenergy I had tried “going to the gym” which typically consisted of me answering emails for thirty-minutes while I was on the elliptical, pathetically attempting to lift some weights, and a sub-par ab workout. While all of this was going on, I would look at all of the “fit” people around me and think, I am never going to look like that. I would consistently set weight loss goals, and never hit them, and I was always “too tired” or” too busy” to get in a workout.

Enter Zenergy Cycling into my life, and oh what a difference eight months can make.

A friend gifted me my first ride as part of a secret Santa. I had been mentioning to her that I wanted to try it because I needed to try something to switch up my routine. It took four more months before she finally convinced me to go for my first ride with Nick, and I have not wanted to stop getting on the bike and showing up since.

Since that first ride, the instructors have helped me to love myself and love my body and to find my “inner athlete.” What I have noticed since starting my journey is that there is no such thing as gym-timidation or comparing yourself to others, because we are a community of riders of all different abilities, strengths, sizes, background, and motivations. It is because of all of these differences that we are stronger together as a community, as a tribe.

So, what’s the point of this rant from a 20-something who likes to ride bikes that go nowhere? My point is two-fold. First, you have to find what works for you when it comes to your fitness and health. I am down twenty-pounds and the only thing that I have really changed is dropping the gym membership and adding Zenergy to my life, and making the most of every ride. My second point is that you have to find a community that supports you and pushes you. I know that I have found that at Zenergy, through my own tribe and through all of the riders and instructors whose energy pushes me to say yes with every turn of that knob, tap-back, and push of that pedal.

If you are skeptical, try it! I promise you that you will not regret what this place can do for your mind, body, and spirit. I’ll see you in the front row soon enough ;). All it takes is a little bit of patience, dedication, hard work, and love.
